(Article Graphic) The Huntsville-area Real Estate Market is trending upward, with an 8 percent increase of media home sales prices and a 67 percent (!!) increase in property values since 2007. They've even showed a slight increase (0.6%) in the total number of homes sold in February 2008 versus February 2007.

The reason for these increases are that the local economy is expecting 16,000 new high-paying jobs, which is mainly because of the Base Realignment and Closure Relocation (BRAC) initiative of the armed forces. There is a large military base near Huntsville.

In addition, international companies such as Toyota have created jobs in the Northern Alabama area. There is also much buzz about Volkswagen installing a plant in the area.

The bottom line? The current market is holding its value very well, and now a fresh group of people are coming to Huntsville to drive up the demand of real estate even more.
